It is really important to have a support system when losing weight otherwise, odds are you will fail. You really need people that are rooting for you because secretly there will be people that want you to fail. I am not sure why this is because you would think that your friends and family would want you to be healthier. I don’t know if it is that they just don’t like change or what, but having a few friends who have lost weight or tried losing weight this has always been an issue.
The first time I started Nutrisystem was October of 2015. I asked my husband to try to lose weight with me. I didn’t say he had to do Nutrisystem, but at least watch his calories and use an app to track his food. He didn’t want to. I asked friends to stop tagging me in tempting food on Facebook because I didn’t want to be tempted, and it only seemed to happen more. I created a group for friends and family to interact with me to help me on my journey and only two people who are blogging friends commented on my blog and very few checked in on how I was doing. So out of hundreds of friends and family only 2 had my back. It was very discouraging, and the holidays didn’t help. I heard, “One bite won’t hurt” more times than I can count.
When I tried to lose weight around 2010, I had a friend who was Italian and loved to cook large Italian meals. She took offense to my new weight loss adventure as I didn’t like her food anymore. Can you believe how dramatic weight loss can be? It is kind of funny looking back now. However, each time my friends and family won. I didn’t get to change my life because they caused me to cave in. I either felt guilty or wanted to fit in.
With food like this though why should I cheat?
I was craving Strawberry Shortcake. I haven’t had it in years. I made it with Nutrisystem pound cake, strawberries and Truwhip cream. #nutrisystem #ad #nutrisystemsnaps #nsnation #mommyblogger #foodblogger #weightlossjourney #twoboysandahubby #truwhip @truwhip @nutrisystem

This time feels different though. I am doing this for myself and my kids. I want to be healthy for them, and I don’t want to have all the health problems that I see over-weight people have. I want to be that 65-year-old people think is 40. I am 35 years old, and if I don’t make this change now I don’t feel like I ever will. My husband has been trying to lose weight with me using a fitness app and eating healthier. I limit myself on Facebook and social media unless it is blog-related, and I haven’t talked about my weight loss journey with family or friends at all. If they follow my blog, they know but on my personal Facebook, page I don’t bring it up. Sometimes being on a weight loss journey is better if you do it in secret.
This time around my rock is my husband, my best friend Stephany and my mom. Nutrisystem also has the best counselors out there, so I know if I need help my counselor is just an e-mail away. I also find following the Nutrisystem Facebook page, twitter and instagram account helps me come with up to ideas, and it always keeps me reminded that I am on my journey.
Have you failed time and time again? Think about the times you have tried to lose and if anyone has tried to sabotage you. Think about trying to lose weight in secret and maybe meet some online friends to use as a support system if you need to share your journey with others to stay motivated.
See ya next week!
