This is a sponsored post. I was paid to write this. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I believe my readers will love. Thanks to my sponsor Charles Lubbat for sponsoring this post!
When I first started blogging in 2015 I wasn’t really interested in making money. I was excited companies wanted to send me products to try in exchange for my opinion. I felt it still helped with the household because if I could review shampoo/conditioner that meant that I didn’t have to buy it which helped with the budget.
When I had to quit working when I got pregnant with Adam in 2011 I knew I had to do something. I wasn’t the kind of person that could sit around and do nothing, but after pregnancy complications I was put on bed rest and fired from Whole Foods because my pregnancy was causing me to miss too much work. I ended up losing Adam’s twin shortly after I was fired, so it was a really difficult time because I lost my job and my baby and the only thing that kept me sane was that Adam was still alive. I knew I couldn’t go back to work and that I had to take it easy and that is when I discovered free samples, giveaways, etc through Facebook.
I went from me entering bloggers giveaways to creating my own blog in 2012. I wish I knew now what I didn’t know then. I feel like I learned a lot in 2016 and 2017 and if I had known what I learned I think I could have grown a lot faster. I guess a lot of it was that I wanted to learn it on my own and I didn’t want bug other bloggers for help. So knowing what I know I would love to share with you what I learned so if you are just starting out you can get a head start.
#1. Linqia (affiliate link) Linqia is an awesome company that will send you e-mails and let you know about a product they think would be a great fit for your blog. If you are interested you apply. They will send you the product. You write about the product and share it on your social media and they pay you based on how many clicks you get within your posts. They supply a special link to you and track everything for you. So lets say you just wrote an article and they may ask you to have a goal of 127 clicks within that post. If you don’t reach that goal you don’t get paid your full amount. I haven’t had a problem reaching the goals. If you are just starting out you probably won’t get approved, but it is something you can work towards once your blog gets more popular.
#2. Best Buy. Sign up for the Best Buy Bloggers program. This Christmas I will be able to buy my 5 year old the Nintendo Switch and a Mario game thanks to Best Buy. This is something I would not be able to afford unless I put it on a credit card. Best Buy gives me gift cards in exchange for posting to my twitter, writing reviews and more!
#3. Sverve. Now known as Activate. Activate will pay you to post to Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook and to write blog posts. I have only done the posts to Twitter, Pinterest and Facebook, but my goal is to get approved to write a post for a major brand next year. I ordered some photography equipment last week that I am hoping will help my photos look even more awesome.
#4. Ad space. Now this is something I haven’t not done yet, but you can sell ad space on your blog to companies. I am thinking about it for 2018.
#5. Diamond Bloggers. Diamond Bloggers will e-mail you and ask you to write on a particular subject. They usually only pay $25.00, but if you are a blogger just starting out or enjoy making extra money then this is for you.
#6. Google Adsense. This can be hooked up to your blog and youtube. I don’t make a ton on this. I have made $200.00 since 2011 using this, so it is not a big money maker. You will make the most if you hook it up to your youtube and post quality videos regularly. I have noticed I make more on youtube.
Now you just have to ask yourself? Are you willing? Are you willing to put in the work to make your blog a success. It doesn’t happen over night and it is not an easy job. If it is easy you than you probably aren’t doing it right. Join Facebook blogging groups, buy some how to blog books and set yourself up for success! Good Luck!
