So last week I made my homemade cheese manicotti. It was one of my husband favorite dishes, but oh man after I used Dave’s Gourmet Roasted Garlic and Sweet Basil Pasta Sauce, it was insane. Insanely good. Like omg this tastes just as good as our favorite Italian Restaurant Little Italy. The sauce is so flavorful and full of chunky veggies. It wasn’t an, “Oh you should make that again sometime” It was a “You need to make another batch now!” Haha. No joke I will be ordering some of this one for my manicotti. Did you ever see that episode of “Everybody loves Raymond” when Marie has told everybody about her secret sauce only to find it was a jar of store bought pasta sauce? This will be what I tell people when I use Dave’s pasta sauce…shhhhh don’t tell anyone.
I am really bad at sharing recipes because I don’t measure most of the time.
I mixed the ricotta with one egg, garlic powder, 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese, onion powder and pepper. I then put it in a storage bag and cut off the end and pipped it into the ricotta pasta after it had cooked for about 8 minutes.
I added enough sauce to cover the bottom of the my glass dish and put the ricotta shells in rows. I then dumped the rest of the sauce all over the top of the shells. The last step was to cut the mozzarella cheese into slices and place on top. I used about half of the mozzarella pictures above. The one cup shredded mozzarella was not in the picture, but I prefer to Sargento because it is just so incredibly fresh. I used to buy Kraft or whatever was on sale, but after trying that I can’t go back.
I put it in the over at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes or until the cheese browns up a bit.
I was only able to try two rolls, but if I wasn’t eating healthier these days, I could have easily eaten half of this pan. LOL. It was that good!!
The next day I tried Dave’s Gourmet Hot Sauce. Now when ever I do reviews for hot sauce, I usually just make about two cups of scrambled eggs and test each one out, but the first day I tried their Hurtin’ Jalapeno on one of my Nutrisystem pizzas, and it was awesome! Not too hot, but full of flavor!
Then it was time to try the rest!
Oh my wow! One of them is called insanity and with good reason. That one hit the back of my throat, and it burned like crazy. I told my husband if we’re ever get a sore throat, we have to take a spoon of this because it will kill whatever it is making us sick. lol. My dad was a big fan of doing that when I was growing up. Whenever he was sick, I would see him in the kitchen drinking hot sauce, worchester sauce, vinegar and other randomness, and he swore by it. When it came to pairing the hot sauce with my eggs, my favorite was the Roasted Garlic and the Cool Cayenne Pepper. I just started making my own hummus and I will mix some of the Roasted Red Pepper in my next batch!
Last but not least! Butternut Squash Pasta Sauce! My 2-year-old loved it and I thought it was really tasty. I would totally buy it. These were the only two I tried from their pasta line, but after just trying this two I am obsessed, and I just want more!!
Check out their amazing ingredients!
I highly recommend trying this out for your future family gathering or giving the hot sauce as a gift! It comes in a really cool wooden box.
